Hallo ihr Lieben,

hier sind die Lösungen für die Seiten 65-67 im E-Kurs Buch:

S. 65 – Floodland

a) Global warming describes the rise of the average temperature which causes, for example, the melting of ice and so the rising of the seas (sea levels). Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide are responsible for this process.

I think this story could become true one day because due to global warming the seas (sea levels) will rise and certain areas of some countries will be flooded. / I don`t think it is a true story  because I think people will stop global warming and the sea (level) won’t rise in Europe. I’m afraid this could happen in Asia.

The story takes place in the future because it shows the dramatic effects that will occur if we don’t stop global warming.

S.67, 2) Characters

1 Zoe Black was alone on the island without her parents.

2 Zoe`s parents had already left the island.

3 Natasha had been kind of a friend to Zoe.

S. 67, 3) Headings

1 No choice – Zoe has to leave                                  2 Not far to the shed

3 Zoe gets to her boat                                                  4 Leaving the others behind

5 Using a compass                                                         6 Skills for survival

7 In the middle of the sea

S. 67, 4) The plot

1 …the island in a tiny rowing boat.

2 .she preferred to be on her own and it was safer that way.

3 …the boat was still there.

4 …Natasha had been her only friend and it hurt Zoe to leave her.

5 …she knew that the big bit of Britain was somewhere in that direction.

6 …her dad had taught her. He also taught her what she needed to survive.

7 …the was no sign of land and she had to trust her compass to find land.

S. 67, 5) The mood

I think it’s exciting when the other people are following Zoe and to catch her. Luckily she manages to escape.

I think the story is really sad when Zoe has to leave her former friend behind. I’m sure that was a hard decision for Zoe.

It’s scary when Zoe is out on the sea alone. The food has gone and she does not really know where she is.

I’m afraid that this story might become real if we don’t manage to stop global warming.

S. 67, 6) The narrator

The story is told by a third-person narrator who knows everything about Zoe. He often uses her name or the pronouns ‘she’ or ‘he’. One example is the sentence “She had wanted to tell Natasha about her boat, and her plans to escape, but had decided not to.” (ll.72-74): The narrator knows what Zoe thinks.

S. 69 – Writing

a) Nazma complains about her fitness tracker and she wants a full refund because her skin gets irritated, the tracker isn’t accurate and the battery life is poor. She has already complained three times (personally at the shop and by sending two emails) without getting any help.

b) greeting, explaining the reason, introducing the complaint, introducing further complaints, demanding action, ending

c) Musterbeschwerde S. 69 und Hinweise im SF 10.3 Writing a formal letter / email of complaint (S. 70)

S. 70 – Mediation course

a)            (1)You: Nein, das bedeutet, dass du den Akku innerhalb von 30 Minuten laden kannst.

                (2)You: Darüber steht hier nichts.

(3)You: Ja, die Drohne hat eine 0,3 Megapixel Kamera und vier LED Lichter für Nachtflüge.

(4)You: Keine Ahnung, auch darüber steht hier nichts.

(5)You. Du kannst die Drohne auch in geschlossenen Räumen fliegen lassen, denn sie wiegt nur 500 Gramm. Aber du musst unbedingt die Regeln für das Fliegen von Drohnen in deiner Gegend recherchieren und beachten.

b)           Dear Sir or Madam

My friend read your advert for the Fly-Hi Drone, and we are very interested in it. However, before we decide to buy it, I would like to ask you for some more information. Our questions are:

1.       What is the maximum distance of the remote control? / How far does the remote work to control the drone?

2.       How far and high can the drone fly?

3.       How much does it cost – including delivery to Germany?

I am looking forward to receiving your answer.

Yours faithfully

Marcel Bauer
